Link building techniques by Guest Blogging

A guest blogging site is a very influential platform to build quality backlinks using guest posts. A well-written and formulated guest blog post can be a great opportunity for back-links building.

Link building techniques using guest blogging is a little bit tricky yet proven method to enhance your website authority.

Here we will see simple guest blogging tricks that would give better results in several months. If you want to get a better look at guest blogging then do check some quality content published on reputed sites in your niche.

For example, if you are in the field of SEO ( search engine optimization) then you can check the guest articles published over the years on ahrefs.com or moz.com

The tricks or hacks which will be explored here are simple yet effective for which you can give a try to test by yourself.

Link Building Strategies using Guest blogging Tricks

Trick No 1: Propose or test for more guest blogs than you can handle

A] Suppose you have applied for a guest posting to several different blog sites. But you have not yet received a reply from any of these sites after many days or weeks.

Although it might be difficult to wait further, still your guest blogging efforts should not be affected by such long wait times.

So the first trick is -

  • You should approach more guest sites for blogging than you can handle.

Here we use a simple principle mentioned by Daniel Priestley, an author of the book titled 'Oversubscribed' which tells that -

  • It is always better to have more demand than supply.
B] It sounds really good to have a scenario where dozens of bloggers are in queue to have a guest article from you.

This gives you an option to actually choose which blogs you want to write for and which ones can be put on hold. So you have to-

  • Generate about 2 to 3 wonderful article ideas
  • Propose them to at least 10 to 15 blogs
  • Do not send these ideas to all blogs in a single day but approach to 5 or 6 initially and wait for a few days for their response.
  • You can then approach the remaining ones.

C] In this way if some of them take time to reply then you can kindly inform them that the article idea is taken by another blog due to delay.

You can also inform them that if something equally good is there in the future then you will be happy to share more ideas.

  • This approach can create a queue of bloggers for your guest articles.

Trick No 2: Create back-links to multiple articles from your guest posts

A] It might seem like a not so clever initiative but this works if done properly.

  • You have to create multiple links to your web-page articles from the guest post written by you.

This does not mean filling your guest articles with backlinks to your stuff top to bottom.

  • Link creation should be relevant and has to look natural.
  • If the backlink you are putting there is not related to the topic then don't try to fill it unnecessarily.

B] Nowadays most bloggers are quite sensitive to self-promotional links of any type so normally they would only permit -

1. A single link to the author's homepage of the  website having author bio

                                                or

2. Author information link of the same guest site.

As you can see in the above image, we have a sample guest article published on the site.

When we click the author name (highlighted with yellow marking), it is directed to the author bio page of the same website which you can see in the below image ( highlighted with yellow marking ).

  • If you have your own website then you can post that link to the clickable author name in the guest article.

C] If you send any guest article full of links to your website, it might not be accepted and hence will not be published by the website.

The obvious question that comes here is -  How many links are acceptable in the guest article?

  • You should put a maximum of two self-promotional backlinks in your guest article.
This might be subjective to the blog owner.

Trick No 3: Put links to other guest posts written by you wherever possible

A] Putting links to your other guest articles is beneficial for two reasons.

Reason 1: As per the page rank formula of Google, if you link to guest post-1 from guest post-2 and guest post-1 has the link to your own website. It increases the power of the link pointing to your website.

Reason 2: You can reach the blog owner of the guest post-1 to inform about getting a quality backlink from your side.

B] This can make them happy and they could return the favor to you in the future by giving more guest blogging offers.

This is a simple yet effective trick to build a quality backlink.

Trick No 4: Write guest articles for the blogs which have never linked to you

A] The number of unique domains that link to your page affects its ranking in Google searches. The more the number of unique linking domains to your web page, the higher is its Google ranking

Although this is not the confirmed rule but has been experienced by thousands of SEO professionals. So,

  • You have to get more unique links from different websites to your page which will usually increase your page ranking in Google search results.
  • So when you are building backlinks using guest blogging, it is always preferable to approach blogs that have never linked to your web page before.

B] If you are a new blogger or the one whose business has a recent presence online then it is quite possible that very few people would be linking to you.

But if you are experienced and proficient who have been in the business online for quite a long time, you must be having at least a moderate amount of linking domains.

  • In any of these two cases, you can find unique linking domains to your page using the 'ahrefs content explorer' tool.
  • Using this you can find top-performing content in your niche which helps to link building and selecting low competition topics.

C] When you use the 'content explorer' of ahrefs, you get the option called 'Highlight unlinked domains' on the results of the content explorer page as seen in the below image.

  • If you click on that option (Highlight unlinked domains) and enter the address of your web page then click the 'highlight' button as seen in the above image. It will show all the websites which have never been linked to you.
  • Also, you can export this data in an excel sheet using the checkbox option titled 'Export only highlighted( unlinked ) '  as seen in the below image{ it comes by clicking the 'Export' option at the right side corner of the web-page }.

D] Additionally, you can check whether a random blog has linked to your web page or not using the following steps.

  • Search 'ahrefs webmaster tools' in google and click on the first link. You can visit the link by clicking here.
  • Click 'Sign in' on the upper-right corner if you already have an account or click on 'Sign-up for free to create an account and then log in.
  • After login, enter the full web address of your web page in the text box and click on the search button. { remember to select the ' subdomains ' option from the drop-down option beside the search button }
  • This shows the overview of your web page as seen below.

Bonus Tip

Guest blogging Trick for backlinks building :

If the blog owner for whom you have written an article earlier gives you another opportunity, then you have to understand that,

  • The page rank method of Google counts backlinks between the pages, not websites. But every successive link from the same website would have less authority value.

Else it could have been quite easy to misuse the Google page rank by creating one website with tons of links to your page. But it does not work like this. So you have to remember that -

  • only write  2 or a maximum of 3 guest articles for the same blog if it is really a quality blog or you are not having any other guest post opportunities.
  • keep stock of some ready guest articles to publish on some other blog sites.
So these are some effective link-building strategies related to guest blogging that you can use to create quality backlinks.
